Voucher Creation Messages

What is a creation message?

Voucher creation messages are a new type of Voucher message – similar to reminder, redemption and expiry messages. Their purpose is to be triggered when a voucher is created by external system, which then notifies TalkBox of this event.

Voucher creation messages are supported with a RedCat Connection, however other providers are planned for the future.

This feature allows for, and leverages, existing rules in the external system to determine when a customer qualifies for a coupon, while using TalkBox as the means for communicating with that customer.

For example, a rule whereby when a customer reaches a points threshold, they are automatically issued a coupon – TalkBox can now be notified of this event and so send an email or SMS to the customer to let them know that the coupon is ready for them to use.

Configuring Voucher Creation Messages

Account configuration

To use voucher creation messages, please first contact our support team to ensure the feature is enabled. They will liaise with RedCat support to ensure your RedCat account is correctly set up with a CouponCreate webhook for your TalkBox account.

For RedCat, voucher creation messages are supported for independent campaigns, with no member segmentation – as outlined in this article.

Setting up Messages

Once our support team confirm your account is ready, you can set up voucher creation messages by navigating to either

  • Automated > Voucher Messages: click “Add new”, and select the Voucher and “Creation” type message in the modal
  • Tools > Vouchers: click the dot menu for a voucher, select “Edit messages”, then select “Add message” under “Creation message”.

Note that a voucher can only have one creation message at a time. You also won’t need to configure recipients or send time, since those are determined in the rules for the coupon in RedCat.

FAQ

What about vouchers created by TalkBox?

If TalkBox sends a communication that generates the issuing of coupons in RedCat, we automatically check any incoming CouponCreate events and filter these out, preventing a double up of messages to customers.

If I add a voucher block to my voucher creation email, will it create a new voucher?

No: if a voucher block/barcode is included in the email, it will be a reference to the existing voucher – it won’t create a second one when sent. This acts as an alternative way for your customer to use the voucher: both in their app or the email communication.
