Add Video to an Email

Embedded video files (mp4, mov, etc) are not natively supported by most email clients. Embedded elements such as videos, forms, and other widgets are often treated as potential security threats and stripped from the contents.

However, there are tricks you can use to give the appearance of a video, while maintaining best practice for email marketing.

Step 1: Pick a thumbnail

While email clients do not support video files, you can still use a thumbnail image or GIF to represent your video. Using a static image with a play button is the most common (and recommended) way to feature a video in an email.

Step 2: Upload to an Image Block

In your email communication, drag an image block into place. Click the button “Choose image”, and either “Upload” the file from your device, or “URL” to import from online.

You will need to get the share link for your hosted video – you may have it on your website, or a service such as Vimeo, YouTube, Twitch, etc. Copy this link, and enter it into the “Link” field for your image block.

Now when you send your email, your recipients can easily click to view your video online.
