Note: This article only applies to TalkBox accounts in mirror mode. If your account isn't in mirror mode or you need a detailed tutorial on how to upload and tag contacts please see our uploading your database support article.
When TalkBox is in mirror mode, the 'Upload contacts' feature can be used only to tag existing contacts and add specific data to these contacts that isn't usually stored in your TalkBox account. It cannot be used to add new contacts (see Using TalkBox in mirror mode for details).
Step 1: export unique IDs from your member system
Filter contacts in your member system based on your desired criteria (e.g. 'top 20 EGM players') and export a list of external IDs for those contacts. (Not sure which IDs to export? Read Mirror mode: finding your unique external ID.)

Save the list in a single-column .csv file in Excel or Google Sheets.
Step 2: upload & tag contacts in TalkBox
From the Contacts menu in TalkBox select 'Upload contacts'. Choose the .csv file you just created and click 'Upload' to begin the upload process.
Enter a tag underneath 'Tag contacts as' (e.g. 'Top 20 players campaign') and match your unique ID (e.g. member ID) to the external ID field before selecting 'Continue'.
Step 3: complete upload & send
Once your upload is complete, your contacts should be tagged successfully and you can send or schedule communications to them.
If you have previously used TalkBox to upload contacts in a non-mirror mode accounts you will notice some key changes to uploading in Mirror Mode:
- No new contacts will be created.
- No data in mirror fields will be updated.
